By creating an account or using MyLynda, you agree to these terms. If you are using MyLynda for a business, you confirm you are authorized to accept these terms on its behalf. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
The service
MyLynda is a tool for pre-interview reference checks. You can screen applicants for free. A completed reference check costs $2.99, and your first completed check is free. There is no subscription. Payments are one-time charges processed through Stripe. We may change pricing in the future, and any change will apply to checks you run after it takes effect.
Accounts
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for activity under your account. Give us accurate information and keep it current. Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.
Acceptable use
Use MyLynda only for lawful hiring and screening purposes. Do not use it to harass anyone, to break the law, to upload data you have no right to share, to interfere with the service, or to misrepresent your identity or authority. We may suspend accounts that violate these terms.
Employer responsibilities
MyLynda is a tool, not legal advice. You are responsible for following all hiring and employment laws that apply to you, including obtaining proper consent and using counsel-approved disclosure and notice language where required. You decide how to use the information we surface, and you are responsible for your hiring decisions.
Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The service is provided "as is" and "as available." We do not guarantee that reports are complete, accurate, or fit for any particular decision. Reference responses come from third parties, and we cannot guarantee what they say or whether they respond at all. To the fullest extent permitted by law, MyLynda is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the three months before the claim.
Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. If we make a material change, we will take reasonable steps to let you know. Continuing to use the service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.
