How MyLynda collects, uses, shares, and retains your data, and the data of the candidates you screen.

This policy explains what information MyLynda handles, why, and what choices you have. We have written it in plain English. If anything is unclear, write to us at hello@mylynda.ai.

Information we collect

We collect three broad kinds of information:

  • Account information. When you sign up, we collect your name, email address, and the details needed to run your account and billing.
  • Candidate data. When you screen or reference-check someone, we process information about that candidate, including their name, email address, resume, and stated work history.
  • Reference responses. When a past employer or reference replies to our questionnaire, we collect their answers about the candidate.

We also collect basic technical information, such as log data, when you use the service.

How we use it

We use the information we collect to:

  • Run the screening and reference-check service you ask for.
  • Contact references and past employers on a candidate's behalf, only after that candidate has given explicit consent.
  • Produce reports, verdicts, and interview questions for you.
  • Process payments, prevent abuse, and keep the service secure.
  • Communicate with you about your account and respond to your requests.

Sharing and processors

We do not sell personal information. We share data with a small set of service providers who process it on our behalf, under contract, only to deliver the service:

  • Supabase hosts our database, authentication, and file storage.
  • Resend sends our email, including reference questionnaires.
  • Stripe processes payments.
  • Anthropic provides the AI models used to parse resumes and structure reference signal.

We may also disclose information when required by law or to protect the rights and safety of people who use the service.

Data retention

We keep data for as long as needed to provide the service and to meet our legal and compliance obligations. Records tied to a completed reference check may be retained for approximately seven years, in line with standard practice for hiring-related records. When data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it.

Your rights and candidate dispute rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you, and to ask how it is used. To make a request, contact us at hello@mylynda.ai.

Candidates have specific rights. A candidate can see findings that concern them and can dispute information they believe is inaccurate. We support these dispute rights as part of the workflow, and we will work to correct verified errors.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal information, including access controls and encryption in transit. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to limit who can see data and to keep it safe.
